Of all claims against them in respect of area coloured red under Lease of Shale in the Lands of Limefield which was terminated at Whitsunday 1925. Details the agreement between Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited and Miss Alice Muriel Thom regarding the shale seams and beds lying in and under two areas of ground on the Estate of Limefield in the County of Edinburgh. Details the sum of £710 paid to Miss Alice Muriel Thom by the company to cover the cost of damage to the land and erect fences on both sides of the railway back shunt on Langside Farm. Also states that the company have to pay an annual sum of £5 to retain the railway back shunt from year to year. Discharge mentions an annexed Ordnance Map, however there are none attached.

It states that the Dunnet Seam have been left unworked in certain stoops to provide support for the buildings on top of the land, Woodend Cottage. Dated 1918 AND Sub-Lease (2) between Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited and Robert Barrie of Farm Auchenhard. Dated 1931. Lease 1 - details the agreement to lease the Lands of Auchenhard in the Parish of Livingstone [sic] and County of Linlithgow to Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited by Mrs Christina MacLellan. It outlines that the company may work the shale from a pit or pits on adjoining lands belonging to or leased by them but that they are not entitled to sink pits, make bings or otherwise enter upon or occupy any part of the surface of the ground overlying the shale without consent of the Landlords. Details the sum of £50 per annum that Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company must pay the Landlords to work the shale under the Lands of Auchenhard for the first 10years of the lease and then £100 from then until the expiration of the lease. Details the agreement between The Pumpherston Oil Company Limited and The Earl of Rosebery regarding the working of the seam of coal on the Earl's land. Outlines finer details regarding sums of money due and length of the lease. Attached are 2 letters dated 1948 which discuss the possiblity of continuing to produce a detergent called 'Iranopol' at the Detergent Plant. Sent from Scottish Oils to the Rosebery Estate. Included is a 'Valuation and Rating (Scotland) Act, 1956, Notice of the amount of owners' rates payable in 1956-57 and of the effect of the third schedule to the act.' Details the agreement to extend the minute of let and agreement between The Right Honourable Alber Edward Harry Mayer Archibald and The Pumpherston Oil Company Limited for the period of thirty one years after 1924 and the furthers terms that this new agreement entails, including outlining the monies to be paid in relation to the working of shale on the lands. Includes two typed letters: Letter 1: Dated 17th September 1951 from Scottish Oils Limited which states that the Estates of Easter Breich and Livingston are now owned by Lord Primrose and that the minerals on those lands are worked by The Oakbank Oil Company under lease with Lord Primrose. Letter 2: Dated April 15th 1959 from The Pumpherston Oil Company Limited to Lord Primrose which states that The Pumpherston Oil Company Limited have decided to end their lease dated 1891 as of Martinmas 1959 and thereby terminate the said lease of the said minerals.

Two plans are bound with the lease document. The first is dated 29th September 1939 and shows the location of the property near Blackburn in red at a scale of roughly 1:10500. The second, also dated 29th September 1939 is titled Blackburn Hall–West Lothian: plan shewing building sites. At a scale of roughly 1:2500 the area concerned is outlined in buff with the houses and steadings being in red and green respectively.

    Lease between Archibald Gibson McLagan and The Pumpherston Oil Company Limited – Ground for Storage Tanks etc; Correspondence re. Ground held on lease. The lease is dated 11th & 18th October 1910 and registered 31st October 1910. Attached is a plan at the scale of 1:2500 showing the property of 8 acres, 28 poles in pink and the buildings in grey. The correspondence (from 1938) deals with the extension of the area covered by the lease (by 1 acre, 1 rood and 14 poles) so that bunding can be built around the new storage tanks. A plan at the scale of 1:2500 accompanies the correspondence, dated 13th September 1938. It is titled Plan showing extra ground coloured blue, taken off outwith the building lease area, in order to form bund round the three storage tanks nos. 31–32–33. The building lease area of October 1910 is coloured pink. A final letter from 1951 is also attached which concerns the construction of a diesel storage tank nearby requiring the further extension of the lease area.

The lease is accompanied by a plan at the scale of 1:2500 showing the location of the new baths in pink (0.96 acres), the laboratory (0.48 acres) in yellow, and the pump house (0.103 acres) in blue. The plan is dated 5.8.1940 and is titled Plan showing additional ground to be taken in by site of new laboratory and baths at Pumpherston Works also site of new water pump house at West Pond.

    Lease between The Pumpherston Estates Limited and The Pumpherston Oil Company Limited - 3 pieces of Ground for Works Canteen, Wax Store and extension of Railway Siding; Correspondence re. raising a building on Ground. Dated 16th & 27th March 1944 and recorded 14th April. Contains a plan at the scale of 1:2500 titled Plan shewing additional ground taken in by site of proposed wax store at Pumpherston Works, dated October 1942. This shows the three areas concerned in yellow (0.52 acres), blue (2.0180acres) and red (2.278 acres). Also included are letters from Condie, Mackenzie & Co., W.S. dated 24th September 1946 and 8th March, 1960. These concern the erection of new buildings and plant on part of the third of these pieces of land and are accompanied by an amended version of the same plan dated 17th September 1946. This shows the division of the plot into two areas indicated in red (1.00 acres) and green (1.278 acres) hatching, with a note indicating the rent payable on the latter area from 6th March 1950.

The first document (2 copies, dated 8th November 1953) records the sale of a property of 1.27 acres (with 46 houses) at Woolfords Highway to the NCB for the sum of £2726. The second document from 1961 records the resignation of Robert Young Gilchrist, secretary of BP Refinery (Grangemouth) Limited as trustee of the Woolford Miners' Welfare Society and the appointment as trustees of George Robert Buchanan, Alexander Moffat, William Bannerman, Patrick Tague and Thomas Linton.

Dated 20th April 1955, this records the sale to the War Department of two pieces of land at Livingston Station for £7500. A 1:2500 scale map (dated November 1953) accompanies this document. Titled Livingston, it was prepared by the Lands Branch–H.Q. Scottish Command–Edinburgh. It shows the location of the two pieces of land, one in pink (7.616 acres), the other in green (1.138 acres) and both bordered in red.

    Let of Mid Breich Farm to Mr John Findlay. Collection of correspondence between the company and John Findlay, who leased the farm from 1939, and later with his son John Findlay Jr. A large map at a rough scale of 1:2500 accompanies the file. Titled Plan of Mid Breich Farm, it has been amended by hand many times and shows the property of 112 acres or thereby in much detail. Two further plans are included in the correspondence, both to the same scale. One, from 1959,shows the lease of the former recreation ground at Mid Breich to the farmer. The other, titled Plan referred to in letter dated 16th May 1963 to Mr John Findlay, Mid Breich Farm shows in red the ground and buildings at Breich Pit that the farmer is now permitted to use at no cost. Other letters coverthe permission granted to the Seafield and District Angling Club to fish the Almond at Seafield, the state of the farm buildings and the installation of land drains in the former recreation ground.

An untitled map (no scale given) is attached showing the spring (the intake well) and the wayleave in red, with the public road between Carnwath and Edinburgh marked in buff. The whole document is stitched with blue thread.
