The James Young Memorial Lecture delivered by Mr Edwin M Bailey at Edinburgh , on Thursday 8th January 1948, under the auspices of the Institute of Petroleum, Scottish Branch. Typed copy of the lecture, providing background to the development of the Shale Oil Industry and James Young's involvement. It also includes selection from his dairies and scrap-books to illustarte his personality in youth and manhood.
