Description
Two part article from the Petroleum Reviews of October and November 1973 about the beginning of the Scottish Shale Oil Industry. The articles are written by Owen Colverd and deal mainly with the struggle James Young had against those who sought to infringe his patent on both sides of the Atlantic between 1850 and 1864. The 2nd. article contains photographs of operations at Westwood Works.
