Minute of Agreement between the Rt. Hon. Viscount Chilston and Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited, renouncing the Right to work shale on Burngrange, but reserving Right to Coal, and regulating payment for ground unrestored. Dated 1922. Details the agreement that Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company has to pay compensation to The Right Honourable Viscount Chilston to restore all ground occupied or damaged to an agricultural state at the termination of the lease. To cover the cost of restoring the ground to its original state, Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company must pay £60 per imperial acre for all ground so occupied or damaged and to restore or pay to restore all fence broken or injured by them as soon as possible. The agreement also states that Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited enclose all pits and air pits and other pits which had been sunk or used by the company and were no longer necessary for working the said minerals by a sufficient stone and line wall five feet in height and to fill in all pits which might no longer be in use. Enclosed is a letter from Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company which details the sum of £417.15 being paid in settlement for the land occupied and unrestored in connection with the working of minerals on Burngrange. Dated 19th December, 1922.
