Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited, William Walker Brotherton. Correspondence and agreement re arrangement re Ground taken for Alderstone Railway. The five letters cover the company's dealings with William Walker of Brotherton, West Calder and his claims for compensation for ground occupied by the railway and a level crossing, for loss of water and grass and for the disturbance of stock by carting and trespass. In his reply dated 6th April 1909, Walker asks that a stile be constructed at the level crossing, that the gates there should be kept in order and that he be compensated for flooding caused by the railway embankment impeding the flow of water from his land. The next letters dated 8th and 13th April are from Thomas Punlice{?} to John Fyfe, the managing director, about his negotiations with Walker, indicating that a stile and land drains should be constructed.
