Description
Minute of Agreement between the Proprietors of the Estates of Alderstone, Howden and Cliftonhall in the County of Edinburgh and Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited. The document is handwritten and bound with pink thread. Dated 27th November 1908, the document appoints Stevenson John Charles George Macadam, Fellow of the Institute of Chemistry, Fellow of Chemical Society as sole Arbiter or Inspector of the discharges from the Paraffin Oil Works at Addiewell, replacing Professor Alexander Crum Brown of the University of Edinburgh in this role. A typed card attached to the agreement states that it was noted at Addiewell on 1st December 1908. Also attached is a handwritten note dated 1st July 1920 stating that the company pays Dr Stevenson Macadam £26/5/- for inspecting the discharge from the Addiewell works.
