Scottish Mineral Oil Association, Agreement come to on 27th January 1919 relating to the Wages of Boys employed underground. Agreement details the meeting between Mr. W Fraser and Mr. Crichton, representing the Scottish Mineral Oil Association and Messrs. Simpson, Kilday, Atkinson, Loch, and McAulay, as representing the Scottish Shale Miners' Association, held in the Board Room of The Pumpherston Oil Company Limited. The following agreement was reached in regards the wages of boys from 14 to 18 years of age employed underground at the shale mines: Basic Rates - the starting basic rates of wages are as follows Pony drivers, 3/11d per shift All other boys, 3/10d per shift Rate of increase - the basic rate of wages of all boys to be increased by Twopence (2d) per shift at the end of the first six months' service and a further twopence (2d) per shift at the end of each period of six months thereafter until they reach the age of 18years.
