Description

Minute of Let between Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited and John and Andrew Braes of part of the farm and lands of Niddry extending to 130 acres. Handwritten notes on cover: Mr Andrew Braes died 25th May 1942; Mr John Braes died 6th June 1955; let of the farm to John Braes terminates at Martinmas 1955. The Company have agreed to lease the farm and lands of Niddry from the Marquis of Linlithgow and the tenants have agreed to become sub-tenants of the Company. The let has been signed by John Braes, Andrew Braes and Robert Braes and by John Buck Lloyd and William Fraser, Directors Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited and dated 23 June and 12 July 1921. There is a plan attached signed by the aforementioned headed "NIDDRY FARM - HOPETOUN ESTATE" showing the area outlined in green. There is a table of contents showing 14 fields, numbered and acreage of each one. The Plan is dated 7 May 1921 Hopetoun Works Winchburgh. The Scale is 1 inch = 200 feet. It is interesting as it also shows location of Hopetoun Oil Works and related spent shale bings.
