Winchburgh Personalities
Two well known Winchburgh personalities have passed away recently. Mr David Quate, formerly of Abercorn Place, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs W. Moyes, in Edinburgh, last Friday, and was interred at Winchburgh Cemetery on Monday. The funeral was attended by a large gathering of relatives, friends and villagers, and was conducted by the Rev. R. G. N. Murray. Mr Quate, who was a retired shale miner, was greatly affected by the death of his wife some years ago and had been in indifferent health since. He was 67 years of age. Well known in local sporting circles, he was in his youth a Junior footballer with Winchburgh Violet and other clubs. He is survived by his grown-up family of two sons and one daughter.
