Mr. George MacLellan Blair.

The death is announced of Mr. George MacLellan Blair, chairman and managing director of the well-known firm of P.and W MacLellan, Limited, Clutha Works, Glasgow. He had attained his sixtieth year and had been intimately associated with the firm for the long period of forty-seven years. The business was founded by his uncles, Messrs. MacLellan, early in the century -in the year 1811- and after a period of training he was appointed manager of the works in 1862 and in June, 1866, he was taken into partnership. On the retirement of the late Mr. Walter MacLellan he become senior partner and so continued until the foundation of the present limited company in 1890, when he was appointed chairman and managing director, a position which he held till his death, which took place at Clifton Hall, Ratho, Midlothian, on the 4th inst. Mr. Blair was well known in commercial and industrial circles in London and the Midlands, and had been a justice of the peace for the Lower Ward of Lanarkshire for the past twenty-two years. In the control of the large business of P.and W. MacLellan be manifested high administrative qualities, as well as practical skill and commercial sagacity.
