Round The Calders

By M.C. Mulhern

Pumpherston has lost one of its best known natives, Mr John Quinn, who died in his home at Davmar on Tuesday Morning. Mr Quinn who was over 70 years of age, was a shale miner for most of his life, although in the closing period of his working days he was employed in the oil works at Pumpherston. He retired from active work several years ago. He was a popular figure in the village and his wide circle of friends mourn his passing.
