B&W negative copied in 1990 from official albums then held at Grangemouth refinery.
A scotch derrick crane in use assembling plant on a level section of a shale bing. The casting suspended from the crane jib appears to be a manifold casting for an atmospheric condenser, the mass of pipes through which the hot vapours from a retort were passed to produce liquid crude oil and ammonia liquor. Perhaps showing the reconstruction of Hopetoun oilworks.
