B&W negative copied in 1990 from official albums then held at Grangemouth refinery.
A view across Pumpherston oil works showing the pithead staging of Pumpherston No.1 pit with staging carrying the haulage to No.3 mines and to the waste tip from which the photo was taken. On the left are two benches of retorts are fed by and inclined staging. The photo might date from c.1900.
