Description
Small decorated box within inscription recording that it was carved from Hucknall coal in 1898
The lid is inscribed "Made of Hucknall coal raised Oct 4, 1898 by Mrs . H . Daws". The box contains two small decorative womens shoes carved from similar coal with "ED" carved on the soles. Hucknall cannel coal is thought to have been briefly used for oil production
