DEATH OF MR GEORGE LAIRD
The death occurred last weekend of Mr George Laird, a well-known figure locally, where he has resided all his life, having been born in the village sixty years ago. "Geordie", as he was best known was a miner in the local shale mines until ill-health caused his retiral from the pits. For many years he has resided in the house connected with the East Calder Institute, of which his wife was caretaker. The sympathy of the community is extended to his widow and the brothers and sisters by whom he is survived.
