WELL-KNOWN FIGURE PASSES
-The death took place in Bangor Hospital last weekend of a highly esteemed Uphall gentleman, Lewis Black. Mr Black, who was 87 years of age, was a native of the Calders but has resided in the Uphall area for the greater part of his life. During his working life, he was employed as a shale miner. His home was at Kirkfield Bank, Uphall. A quiet likeable personality, he was a popular figure in the locality. Recently Mr Black underwent an operation in Bangour, when he had a leg amputated. He is survived by his wife and grown-up family to whom the sympathy of the community is extended.
