Scottish Mineral Oil Association, Agreement come to on 27th January 1919 relating to the Wages of Boys employed underground. Agreement details the meeting between Mr. W Fraser and Mr. Crichton, representing the Scottish Mineral Oil Association and Messrs. Simpson, Kilday, Atkinson, Loch, and McAulay, as representing the Scottish Shale Miners' Association, held in the Board Room of The Pumpherston Oil Company Limited. The following agreement was reached in regards the wages of boys from 14 to 18 years of age employed underground at the shale mines: Basic Rates - the starting basic rates of wages are as follows Pony drivers, 3/11d per shift All other boys, 3/10d per shift Rate of increase - the basic rate of wages of all boys to be increased by Twopence (2d) per shift at the end of the first six months' service and a further twopence (2d) per shift at the end of each period of six months thereafter until they reach the age of 18years. Scottish Shale Oil Workers' Joint Board, Agreement Re War Bonus, 14th April 1917. The minutes of a meeting of representatives of the Scottish Mineral Oil Association and the Scottish Shale Oil Workers' Joint Board. Agreement details discussions between the Scottish Mineral Oil Association and the Scottish Shale Oil Workers Joint Board over the issue of whether the surface workers at shale mines were entitled to an increase of 1/- per shift as there current wages do not meet the current increase in cost of living due to the war. The Companies refused to pay the increase of 1/- per shift, but instead offered an increase of 6d, to which the Scottish Shale Oil Workers Joint Board stated they felt this was not enough and requested that at least 8d be considered. After further dicussions, an increase of 6d was accepted by the Scottish Shale Oil Workers Joint Board. Dated 14th April, 1917.
