Contract of Tack between Hopetoun Estate Development Company and Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company Limited for a duration of 31 years from Whitsunday 1941. Contract of Tack, or lease as it is subsequently referred to relates to Oil Shale in parts of the Estates of Hopetoun and Ingliston. A typed and signed document. Includes two plans "A" AND "B" titled; Plan A shows the area of Winchburgh with a handwritten note that states "This is the plan "A" referred to in the foregoing lease between Hopetoun Estate Development Coy[company] and youngs Praffin Lim Oil Coy Limited". It also contains a reference key to the Hopetoun Shale Lease. This plan is undated and has no scale. Plan B shows the area of Broxburn with a handwritten note that states "This is the plan "B" referred to in the foregoing lease between Hopetoun Estate Coy and Youngs Paraffin L.M Oil Coy Limited. It is titled 'Illieston Shale Lease' and has a reference key which states that the areas of leasehold are shown bordered in red, areas excepted (farm steading) shown circled brown.
