Slater's Royal National Trade Directory of 1868 lists, "Thomson, Lockhart & Co. mineral oil manufacturers, 27 Hope St. and Riggend Chemical Works, Airdrie." A sale notice for the Riggend Chemical Works, printed in the Scotsman of 7th February 1868 indicates that details could be obtained from Thomas Lockhart, Drumgelloch Lodge, Airdrie, or 27, Hope St., Glasgow.

27 Hope St. is listed in the 1867 Glasgow Post Office directory as the office of Robert Lockhart jun. & Co., seed crushers, oil, and commission agents, with an oil mill at 5, Washington St.
