    barbauchlaw 7

Elizabeth Robertson or Burton, a pitheadman's wife, and Catherine Ramsay or Christie, a widow, both from Armadale, were charged with theft of quantity of coals from No. 7 Barbauchlaw Pit, parish of Bathgate, on previous day, pled guilty, and were sentenced to ten days' imprisonment each.

Airlie's railway map of 1875 shows a branch of the North British Railway with "Barbauchley No.7" close to its terminus. It is hard to reconcile this map with the known location of many of the pits marked on it.
