Pit in the lands of the Torbanehill to the Boghead Coal, common coal and ironstone, at 26.5 fathoms Served by the Torbane branch of the Monkland Railway and linked by tram-road to the Wilsontown, Coltness and Morningside Railway.

According to the OS Name Book OS1/34/9/42 c.1854:

"About 7/8 mile E by N.of Tippethill, about ΒΌ of a mile N E of Torbanehill House, and its working is contracted for from the Company by Mr. William McKinlay of Bathgate. It is 28 fathoms deep, its Parrot Coal is of excellent quality and the whole seam including the rough coal varies from 15 inches to 2 feet 4 inches. It is worked by an engine of 15 horse power. Small balls only of ironstone found in this pit."
